Mike the Headless Chicken was a male Wyandotte chicken who lived for 18 months after being beheaded between 1945 and 1947, surviving because most of his brain stem remained intact and he did not bleed to death from a blood clot. After being beheaded, Mike became a national celebrity until his death in March 1947. I combined Mike with a portrait of a male in his prime to create a new head. A combination of cutting, stitching, and gluing techniques were used.
